It is the ex French Somalia or Coast of the Somali, become independent in 1977.
It is a great territory as Tuscany, inclusive between Ethiopia and Somalia, in front of Yemen, from which it is separate from the strait of Bab to the Mandab, that closes to south the Red Sea.
It is a small, poor, warm and little inhabited(only 900.000 inhabitants, but to the beginning of the years '60 the population was as soon as of 80.000 inhabitants) state.
The population is divided in two groups: the Afar to north and the Issa to Gibuti city and to south, whose cohabitation is rather problematic.
