Of the three colonial Guyanes, that French one has remained a territory of overseas; that Dutch one has become independent with the name of Suriname and that English one, independent in the circle of the Commonwealth from 1966, has simply assumed the name of Guyana.
It is an equatorial state with warm-dampness climate, great like 2/3 of Italy, but with an inferior population to the million inhabitants, of which almost one-third lives in the capital Georgetown.
It produces rice, coffee, bananas, coconut, lime and above all sugar reed; while the subsoil is rich of bauxite, but also of gold and diamonds.
