Born in 1947 following the separation of the British Indian Empire in the two big territories that to Islamic majority (Pakistan) and that to hinduist majority (India).
It is a strongly inhabited country, above all in the fertile plains of Punjab, distressed by poverty, lack of hygiene, shortage of work, damp hot infernal climate, pollution and by strong dissent on the political plan.
However the glamour of the ancient Lahore and Peshawar towns and the unbelievable beauty of the mountain area, where you meet the chains of the Himalayas, of the Karakorum and of the Hindukush that raises up to 8616 meters msl. of the K2, make it a surprisingly attractive country.
Follow the valley of the Gilgit River, in the high basin of the Indus, wants to say appreciating large mountains, high up to 8000 meters msl., strongly engraved valleys, footbridges poised on the river, immense glaciers with noisy seracs, integer slopes cultivated to poplars and apricot trees, ancient palaces to eagle nest.
